What’s New 🚨
Screen Share Preview
Have you ever been several minutes into a meeting before realizing everyone else is looking at a screen share? Or worried that people weren’t seeing the screen you were sharing? With Screen Share Preview, whenever a screen is shared it replaces the avatar of the person sharing it. This means that everyone can see the active screen share regardless of the view they are in.
Where to find it: Start a new screen share by pressing S
Tip: To quickly navigate to a shared screen, click the screen share icon on the sharer’s avatar
Browser Floating View (PiP)
Last month we mentioned we are working to make the browser experience as similar as possible to the desktop application. As part of that initiative, we’ve completely rebuilt the browser PiP to create a proper floating view experience for browser users. This new browser floating view features the meeting control bar, attendee pagination, reaction stream and is resizable for those who prefer a minimal view.
Where to find it: Launch Around in the browser and switch to Floating View using the view switcher or by pressing V
Chat Mentions
No more messages getting lost in the shuffle. With mentions, you can address someone directly and alert them with a notification. To get someone's attention in chat, just type @ and select them from the list that appears.
Note: Mobile users can see mentions but cannot create new mentions
Improvements
- 100 Person Meetings: In order to support a wider range of meetings, we’ve doubled the number of people that can gather in a standard meeting room from 50 → 100 attendees
- (iOS & Android) Mobile Annotations: Annotations are here for mobile, letting you draw on top of a screen shared by another user
- (iOS & Android) Show chat in reactions stream: New messages are now displayed alongside other reactions so you won’t need to open the chat panel to see what’s being said
- (Firefox) Improved device support: Thanks to some engineering magic, Around now works with a wider array of devices and technically complex setups
- Removal of Slack rooms: As part of our Workspace upgrade, rooms created via the Slack integration will be removed in the next release. Note: Slack rooms were deprecated previously and have been in read-only mode since November 2023
